Happy December!

Hello!
I've been working away at trying to get my studies completed!  That's all I can say.

For the Winter Quarter at GHC, I will be teaching:

CIS100 - Introduction to Microcomputers
CIS102 - Introduction to Microsoft Applications
TRANS080 - Information Literacy for ELA

I will also be teaching a computer of Community Education classes:

CE Word - Beginning Microsoft Word
CE Excel - Beginning Microsoft Excel

The first three class are "Credit" classes.

The Community Education classes will need to be registered for by contacting Chelcie Bailey at 360-538-4088.  Both of the Community Education classes are 8 sessions (4 weeks, 2x a week, MW)
Word begins on January 22nd and ends on February 14th.  Excel starts on February 26th and ends on March 21st. Both classes will begin at 5 PM and run to 7 PM each session.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A hiatus...

Happy Rainy Day! No? Anyway...I've come to the decision that I need to step away from Tech Goddess for a while. A hiatus, if you will...I am currently at the tail end of my Bachelors' Degree and I'm finding it difficult to find the time to complete my studies.

With working at the college and doing my consulting, homework time is non-existent. Starting on November 1, 2017, I will be referring clients to other local reputable technicians until the first of the year.

If you have questions, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I appreciate all my clients but feel I need to get this degree finished in order to move into the next chapter of my life. I hope you all understand.

Thank you.
Melissa

Time to update?

Greetings,

First off, I'm terrible at this!  Every time I hand out a business card I think, "wow!  I haven't even updated this blog in forever yet here it is on my business card!"

I'm sorry I don't keep this regularly updated.  It's not like there isn't plenty going on!  I have lots of news for you on a regular basis, I just can't seem to find the time to update you on it.

Here goes for the most current news.

I will be teaching 2 classes for GHC Community Education this fall.

Windows 10 Basics - Starting October 2nd - Ending October 25th.  Classes will meet Mondays and Wednesdays in that time frame (8 classes total)

iPhone Basics - October 3rd and October 10th - Class will meet on Tuesdays for 2 classes total.  This will cover the iPhone only.  We will not focus on iPads at all nor any other platform phone (such as Android).  This will be strictly for iPhones.

For either the Windows 10 Basics class or the iPhone class you will need to register with Chelcie Bailey at GHC - chelcie.bailey@ghc.edu or 360-538-4088

I am still working on my BA from WGU.  I've had not time to complete too many classes there which is frustrating because I want to be done with it so I can start in on my Masters and be eligible to apply for Tenured employment thru the College.  (1st World Problems plague us all...)

I will also be teaching for the Transitions dept again this quarter.  This time I will be teaching an Information Literacy class for our ELA (English Language Acquisition) students.  I love this department!

Last but not least in the teaching category, I will be teaching my normal CIS100 class for GHC - this is a for credit course and meets Mondays and Wednesdays for the Fall quarter at 9 AM (that's a little early for me but it's not 8AM!).  If you would prefer this class, you will need to register at Admissions to attend.

I've been tutoring quite a bit this month as I've had some time off from the college.  That all changes next week.  I have 2 more weeks off and I will need to get my curriculum completed for the fall quarter.  We have changed books for both classes so I have to create some new materials to go with them.  Not difficult,  just time consuming.

If you are in need of some help, let me know before the 6th of September.  I will not be making any appointments for the weeks of September 11th (creating curriculum and getting ready for the 1st week of classes at GHC) or September 18th (first week of classes at GHC).

I will still be taking questions via text and email.

Talk to you soon and enjoy the rest of the summer!

It's been 2 years!

Oh my GOSH!

It's been over 2 years since I last posted here.  I have been extremely busy but that's no excuse.  My apologies.

To get you caught up:

I'm no longer actively working at getting my Real Estate License.  I just don't have the time.  The Universe has led me down a different path.

I am still working at the college and I absolutely love it there.  In fact, I just finished up a grant funded Tech Coach job in June of this year.  I was working in the Transition Department, coaching the English Language Acquisition students with computer skills.  It was challenging to say the least but it has been the most rewarding of my life to this point.  I would love the opportunity to work in that department again.

I taught 3 classes over the summer so I was extremely busy with that and now, the fall quarter is just around the corner.  I have been busy working on curriculum for the upcoming quarter and also working on my own studies.

I have been working towards my Bachelors Degree in Information Technology since February of 2015.  I'm currently 10 classes away from obtaining the achievement.  My goal in this is to be eligible to apply for Tenure Track positions that may come up at the college.  I really would like to be a teacher when I grow up.

With the fall quarter upon us in the next week, I will be teaching one class and will have a little more time to devote to tutoring. So, if you have any questions or know someone who does, drop me a note or give me a call.

Ta Ta for now and I hope to keep this blog updated a bit more frequently!
Thanks for reading
